During a visit to Scotland, we came across Teaninich Distillery, a less well-known distillery here in Germany. It is not accessible to visitors. The distillery manager was kind enough to give us a tour and offer us a few whiskies. Inspired by this experience, we went in search of a special barrel and found what we were looking for. The single malt was distilled on 07.06.2014 with 61.2 % vol. bottled on 28.08.2022, there are only 312 bottles in total.
This limited edition whisky single cask bottling from Scotland is the second whisky in the SinGold Flora and Fauna Edition series. The label is adorned with a majestic stag.
The Teaninich (pronounced “Chee-an-inick”) is located near Alness, Scotland. It is not far from the Dalmore and Glenmorangie distilleries in the northern Highlands. The distillery draws its water from the Dairywell Spring. The distillery uses three wash stills and three spirit stills.
Most of the whisky produced in Teaninich is used in blends, for example as one of the main components of Johnnie Walker. In our case, however, we are talking about a single malt single barrel bottling.
There is no visitor center, no road sign. Exclusively selected malt, which is mixed with fresh spring water and distilled in our own copper stills.
We were able to obtain and fill our own cask from this great distillery.
The aroma of this whisky, bottled at cask strength at 61.2%, is fruity, fresh and floral. It has not been chill-filtered or colored. However, this is clearly visible in the light color. This whisky needs a few minutes to breathe. Only then does he reveal his full secret. The taste is very long-lasting. We have aromas of banana, pineapple, fresh grass, apple and pear – a high-proof fruit bomb.
